How this mold project was developed and delivered
A Russian electrical equipment manufacturer serving regional power distribution companies needed SMC compression molds for outdoor electric meter boxes. The enclosures had to withstand extreme cold (-40°C), UV exposure, and maintain electrical insulation properties over a 20+ year service life.
Shengqi developed a complete 3-part compression mold set including the main box mold, door mold and internal mounting plate mold. All three molds were coordinated for consistent material, color, fit and surface finish. The enclosure design was reviewed against Russian GOST standards for outdoor electrical installations.
The molds were shipped via rail freight to Yekaterinburg with full Russian-language technical documentation. The client conducted trial molding at their facility and achieved production approval within two weeks of mold arrival.
Key points addressed during the project
Cold-Climate Enclosure Design
The mold design considered the thermal expansion and contraction characteristics of SMC material at extreme temperatures. Wall thickness, rib reinforcement and insert anchoring were engineered for cold-climate durability.
GOST Standards Compliance
Enclosure dimensions, ingress protection features, mounting patterns and insulation requirements were reviewed against relevant Russian GOST standards for outdoor electrical distribution equipment.
Multi-Part Mold Coordination
The three molds (box, door, plate) were developed as a coordinated set to ensure consistent fit, color match, surface texture and assembly quality across all components produced from different molds.
Rail Freight Logistics
The complete 3-mold set weighed over 3 tons. Crating, documentation and shipping were planned for rail transport through the Manzhouli border crossing, with customs clearance support provided.
